Gerald

Gerald B. Guy - President

Gerald Guy studied Engineering and Mathematics at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) from 1976 to 1984. During his early work as a Research Assistant in the MUN Engineering department he became interested in automation and the application of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), a new technology at the time, to local industries. Gerald’s subsequent work with a local engineering and controls company afforded him a unique opportunity to develop standardized techniques for the programming and application of this new technology to small processes in the fishing and marine industries. In 1987, he formed Avalon Controls Ltd., along with Ken Power, and continues to work as President of the company, responsible for the day-to-day management of company finances, quality assurance, safety systems, and human resources.
